In the last week of January, Tel Aviv was a host to the annual “Cybertech” conference. This exhibition is regarded as the most significant one outside the United States. The number and importance of the participants proves that fact. Over the course of three days there were 15,000 attendees from 80 countries, representatives from 210 companies and 160 international delegations.

Start-up companies changed the face of the economy in this Middle East country during the course of last twenty years, turning it into the one of the leading forces in the field of cyber technologies. Mandatory military service in the technologically oriented IDF (Israel Defence Forces) and an overall social tendency for creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation and technology helped Israel to establish itself as a land of start-up.

Once secret intelligence agency “8200” bred more millionaires than the most successful business schools. This being said, it is not a surprise that internet security is the most popular niche among the young entrepreneurs. In 2017, there were 420 active cyber security companies operating in Israel, 70 of them were founded during last year. With the development of Internet of things (IoT) and constant struggle of law makers to adjust to the new tendencies, it is clear that this number will continue to grow.
